"A fanlisting is simply an online list of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are); they are just a place where you can sign up with other fans."
Why did I decide to built this fanlisting?
I'm actually living in Germany, but my father is spanish and I always had a strong connection to Spain and especially the andalusian Region.
In March 2006 my parents, my boyfriend and myself went to south Spain to visite my relatives there. A few days we went sightseeing in this region. We visited the Alhambra in Granada (which I saw about 3 times before, but I really love it), Gibraltar, La Linea de la conception (where my father grew up) and of course Ronda. It wasn't the first time my parents visited Ronda and they told that once they took me to Ronda, but I was to young to remember that time.
So for me, this visit in March, seemed like the first one. I always had an affection for old, traditional cities and Ronda was the most beautiful place I've ever seen.
The first thing that really impressed me, was the view you have from many spots of the city. Ronda lies on top of a canyon sourrounded by larges gorges. The photographs I have taken, can't really capture this unbelievable view. Ronda lies in the interior of Andalucía and so there are no big cities in the range of vision. You only see beautiful mountains on the horizon and green fields with small paths underneath you.
After enjoying this view for a while we went to the town center of Ronda. Ronda is made up of old buildings that are beautiful to look at. Everywhere were little cafés and restaurants where the people sat in the sun and enjoyed the view over the landscape. The city itself is connected with three old bridges to land sourrounding it. The most impressing one is the 120 m high "Puente Nuevo" (which means "New Bridge"). This bridge is the town's landmark until today.
Finally we went to "La Plaza de Toros", the oldest bullfighting ring in Spain, which is still in use during the "Semana Santa" ("Holy Week", this is a tradional spanish holiday during the Easter week).
I never saw a bullring from inside so I wanted to visit it. I must say the german part in me isn't really into bullfighting and I would probably never attend such an event. It's to brutal for me.
But there's that spanish part in me who's really in touch with spanish traditions. So I was truly fascinated by this building and his ancient charm.
At the end of the day we spoke to some local people there and they told us about a little tavern in the town. We went there to have dinner. When you know where to go you can eat very good spanish dishes in Ronda. The only rule you have to follow is: Don't eat where all the tourists eat. Eat where the local people eat and you won't be disappointed.
So we sat outside this little tavern directly in front of an old market place and enjoyed that delicious food.
This is how a beautiful day ended and I will always have Ronda in my mind.
